Green Alternative Blog Post Date: Jul 20, 2005
I am really curious to get a feel for what Canadians are thinking about the price of gas these days. Is the sky high price of gas going to finally motivate people to use purchase electric cars? Are people going to start using solar power and geothermal power to heat their houses?
There has to come a point and time where enough is enough. When is the point where people will start taking the plunge to purchase solar power and wind power gadgets to get more control over their heating and electrical costs? I personally am starting to look into these alternatives.
Geothermal heating is where you drill a hole approximately 1500 feet down in which to run heating pipes. The earth's core naturally heats the water that is circulated through the water pipes which are set throughout your household. You get a natural heat year round. Even in the coldest climate, this will work because after you get 12 feet or so below the earth's surface, the earth starts to heat up.
Here are a few questions that I have:
? Have Canadians had enough of high gas prices yet?
? Are we getting to a point where we're going to look for alternatives?
? Is the price of solar power / green power technology to a point where it will pay for itself in a few short years and make it more viable for the Canadian consumer?
Thoughts?
